I had to update the name on this website.
To continue from my last post, I want to tell everyone about my journey with the Lord and how I came to know Him. It all began in 1997, when I was a young lady about to finish graduate school and eager to conquer the world– or so I thought.
I was preparing for my thesis work, and for whatever reason, I fell into a state of depression. Perhaps it was the pressures of school, family dynamics, mediocre job prospects (although I had not graduated yet). I don’t know exactly. I just began to feel sad, hopeless, and unrelenting stress. I felt as if something was missing from my life but I had no idea what it was at the time.
It’s good to have older people in your life to encourage you and help you navigate your path when you’re young. But for me, even that didn’t help as I walked through life in this fog of sadness (for reasons unknown). Depression is real, but there is a way it can be defeated. A positive way. His way. The Lord’s way is the only way. I had to learn that, and I learned it by drowning out the noise, the clutter, the discouragement. Was it easy? No, of course not. But it’s possible. All things are possible to those that believe. We have to believe that there is a better way than what we know or see. We have to believe that there is a power higher than ours. The first step in one’s journey with the Lord is to believe in Him. Believe that He is real. Believe that He exists. Believe that He loves you, and only wants what is best for you.
We all have a certain level of faith. Once you start to believe in Him, your faith will begin to slowly increase. This will take time. A journey with the Lord is a long-distance walk, not a sprint to the finish line.
