Grace and mercy… two of my favorite things!

Do you have a favorite type of food, or one specific food? Favorite actor or actress? Movie? T.V. show? I certainly do.

My favorite type of food is Creole food. My family roots are in the southern part of the United States– Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas to be exact. I grew up eating creole dishes, and I still love them even today! Seafood gumbo is one of my favorites.

One of my favorite movies is titled “Remember the Titans,” starring one of my favorite actors, Denzel Washington. My favorite T.V. show is titled “F.B.I.” which airs on the CBS network on Monday nights here in the states.

I truly enjoy all of the things that I listed– which is why they are included among my favorites. But what I love more than movies with Denzel Washington, or watching crime dramas, or chowing down on some good old-fashioned creole dishes, is experiencing the grace and mercy of God. Grace and mercy fit together seamlessly and endlessly. We need both.

God mercy can be defined as: His withholding deserved punishment. We have all sinned, and the punishment for sin is eternal separation from God.

God’s grace can be defined as: His undeserved, un-merited favor. God extended His grace to us all by sending us a Savior– His Son Christ Jesus.

Instead of allowing all of mankind to perish because of sin, God sent us a Savior. We are saved by His grace. In Ephesians 2:8 we read: ‘For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.’

It is by God’s grace we are saved through our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Receive the gift of God that He has given us freely.

God has extended His grace and mercy to us all. Through God’s mercy, He withholds punishment, and through His grace we are saved… two of my favorite things.

Be blessed!
