Blessings to all of you! I hope this post finds you well.
Do you ever find yourself trying to juggle a million responsibilities at once? I certainly do! Our lives are filled with so many responsibilities each day: our jobs, our spouse, our children, our church, our extended families, our friends. Each of us has a commitment to these things and others. We are being pulled in multiple directions by multiple people at the same time, and it can be overwhelming. We need the right kind of guidance to hold everything together.
During one of my morning scripture readings, I came across this verse in the 58th chapter of Isaiah: “The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.” (Isaiah 58:11).
We need the Lord’s guidance– in all we do. We need the Lord’s guidance on our jobs as we work, as we interact with people. We need the Lord’s guidance in our relationships with our spouses, our children, our relatives and friends. We need the Lord’s guidance on how to raise our children. We need the Lord’s guidance in our finances. We need the Lord’s guidance every hour of every day; every minute, every second. In all we say and do; in all we are responsible for, we need the Lord’s guidance.
Full disclosure here– when I’m faced with a decision, (e.g., last summer I was trying to decide if I should sign up for those certification courses that I wrote about), I have the bad habit of ‘over-analyzing’ every angle of a situation, and that ‘over-analysis’ has made me realize that sometimes a leap of faith is required. Ultimately, I decided to sign up for the courses, and I’m 3 weeks away from finishing the first one, but I’m telling you… initially, I spent more time dissecting the decision, than I did praying. I think we’re all guilty of that at some point because we want to control every situation that arises. We want immediate answers and instant results.
I have learned that we should seek God’s guidance, and not rely solely on our abilities to ‘over-analyze,’ or ‘over-think’ a particular situation. Provers 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding.” This is where faith comes in– trusting the Lord with those decisions that we wrestle with. I had to remind myself of Proverbs 3:5. During my daily prayer time, I had to repent and ask for forgiveness because I was relying on my abilities to figure things out, rather than relying on God’s continued guidance.
God will guide us. His word says so. Our job is to trust Him. Seek Him. Study His word. Walk in the faith that comes by studying and hearing His word. He will guide you… continually.
Be blessed!
