Today, as many of you know, is a somber day in the United States.

Twenty-five years ago on this day, this nation was the victim of a terrorist attack. Anyone old enough to remember what happened on September 11, 2001 probably remembers exactly where they were when the got the news of what happened in New York City; at the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and the story of the brave souls on United Airlines flight 93 over the state of Pennsylvania.

I remember.

As a nation, we will not forget. As members of the human race, we must never forget, and we must honor the memory of those that were lost.

I did not lose any family members on that day, and I am grateful for that. I can only send my deepest condolences and prayers to those that lost loved ones. So much has changed in the past 25 years, it is hard sometimes, to remember that despite everything, God is still in control. He still sits on the throne. He still loves each and every one of us.

We can reflect on the events of that fateful day. We can pay our respects and honor the lives of those that were lost. And when all is said and done, we must remember that God is in control. We can do what Paul told us to do in Philippians 3:14– “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

It is perfectly normal to reflect on past events, but as we reflect we must continue to move forward and reach toward the things that are ahead.

We can press on. We can move forward with the Lord’s guidance and direction. We can press toward the goal of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Our goal should be to live as He wants us to live; to live according to His word and His will.

May the entire human race work toward that goal.
